Newsletter 25 November

Dear sponsors, dear friends,

We are back home one week now, but not yet completely landed (It always takes some time before we are really back in real feelings).
Just let us tell about all what happened, because I don't think everybody read the complete report. Dear sponsors, dear friends,

We are back home one week now, but not yet completely landed (It always takes some time before we are really back in real feelings).
Just let us tell about all what happened, because I don't think everybody read the complete report.
  • In July the family Geurts took all the children of the project to the waterfall in the North of Lombok. They took two big buses to the waterfalls, like we told you before. It even got into the Lombok Times. Take a look at “Press” to read the article of the Lombok Times.
  • Then the wonderful news we forgot to tell you. The use of the water tank by a big number of people of the kampung, is sponsored by Nick Gaspersz and Elise Burks, regular visitors of the kampung and friends for a life time.
  • As we arrived in Lombok, Andrea was waiting for us. At last we met him. You can read this story in our report of October and November 2008 on this site. But it is also very nice to read the story from the other side on: http://mcsilly.blogspot.com. We feel a little overwhelmed to read the nice story about us, while Andrea did and still does a great deal for our project. We are so lucky with a friend like him.
  • The story about our bemo. It worked, we have a bemo that takes the children to school for free. It isn't a new one, but a very good alternative. Read also this story in our report.
  • Also thank you to Marianne Geurts, who almost daily translated our story to the English language and Tom who took care, and still does, that everything comes on the site and in your mailbox.
  • Last Friday, 21st November, we had an invitation to present our project on a symposium called “Kinderen uit de knel”, organized by the Protestant Community Venlo e.o. It was, however not really busy, a very nice and interesting evening, as there were presentations of six different organizations, all concerning children. The surprise was on the end of the evening. A cheque of 350 euro for all participants. We will certainly find a good destination for this amount.
  • Wim, our ambassador also took some action. He has arranged following. Restaurant “In Den Engel” located in Venray, the Netherlands, will spend all the tips they get during Christmas week to our project and also give a donation for every customer they have during that week.

It was al together a very busy month, but all worthwhile. We made a big step ahead.
Also we want to tell you, that we are going to inform you all personally, as soon as possible, with the last information about your child or all other information from Lombok. Be patient, because it are more than eighty children, but we will do our very best.
If you don't really know what happened last month, read our report on the website.
